Ketamine Assisted Therapy

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that, when administered at sub-anesthetic doses, stimulates the production of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). This process promotes the growth of new neural pathways related to learning, memory, and overall brain health. As a result, ketamine can help disrupt ingrained thought patterns, stabilize behavioral changes, and catalyze profound, transformational healing.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) offers a unique approach by combining ketamine with traditional psychotherapy. This approach is designed to address a broad spectrum of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. By inducing an altered state of consciousness, ketamine helps reduce negative psychological defenses, creating a space where healing can unfold more efficiently than with talk therapy alone. These experiences can offer clarity, deep insights into personal struggles, add a spiritual dimension to your therapeutic journey, and facilitate a profound sense of meaning and interconnectedness.

While both psychotherapy and medication (including psychedelic medicines) are effective independently, research has shown that combining them creates much more powerful and lasting results than either approach alone.

Shannon believes in cultivating strong, safe, and trusting therapeutic relationships, and this philosophy extends to Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). The use of this powerful medicine requires intention, and when we agree to embark on this healing path together, we will likely increase the frequency of our sessions to ensure you receive the necessary preparation and integration. This will help you sustain long-lasting results. It’s important that you are prepared for the commitment this treatment requires. Shannon begins with a thorough intake process and recommends 2-3 individual 50-minute "prep" sessions before starting the medicine sessions. Each ketamine administration session lasts between 2-3 hours. Integration sessions are recommended 1-2 days after each medicine session. There is no quick fix, and research suggests that a base of six medicine sessions is key to achieving meaningful and lasting transformation.

If you feel called to explore the potential of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy or have questions about whether this approach is right for you, I invite you to reach out. I’m here to support you in your healing journey, and together, we can co-create the space for profound transformation. Let’s begin this work together.
