Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Carl Jung said “One doesn’t become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.  The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular”. Individual counseling is a path for you to reveal and reclaim your inner light, as a therapist, healer and human being.

So maybe you are feeling super anxious in session with a new client, you’re not sure why, but you think it’s triggering something for you, let’s figure it out.

Are you clients or work showing up in your sleep and your dreams are turning into fear-based nightmares? Do you dread going to work? Do your work and professional relationships feel hard to navigate or draining?

Maybe you feel like you’re giving your clients the best of you and everyone else gets the leftovers. You don’t want to connect with your friends, or partner. You’re struggling with your outside relationships – you’re either disconnecting because you don’t want to feel obligated to hear and then need to fix your friend’s office drama or your spouse’s difficult day. You just don’t have the bandwidth. Or maybe you can’t shut off your therapist brain and all you do in your personal life is fix your friend’s or family member’s problems.

Maybe you’re in a space where going home at the end of the day feels like you’re not really home. You’re just going through the motions of your evening routines.

Not only do we need to heal our wounds, but we need to be proactive in preventing burnout.  Let’s identify the spark before it starts to smoke.  Let’s stop the things that may be unconsciously fanning the flames of burnout and put out the fire before you get too crispy.

The best therapists are those that walk the walk, have heard the call, walked the Hero’s Journey and experienced profound inner healing while continuing to make self-care a priority.  Just as a surgeon or carpenter needs their tools to do the best job, we must do the same, but we are our tool!

As you transform through individual counseling, you will grow in understanding, intuition, and compassion.  These are some of the most important ingredients to self-healing and being present for your clients and loved ones.  You know the growth is hard – while we work you might realize some profound things: you don’t want to work with a certain population. Maybe you want more training, or less hours. It’s okay for profound things to happen and change is okay.
